Literature Text

Catch an angel with a prayer,
Push it down and strip it bare.
Rip its wings from the bone,
To never let it fly back home.
Trap it, lock it, and bind it close,
To hide away, from the eyes of most.
It flaps it's bones left on its back, a haunting sound.
Click, clack. Click clack.

Catch an angel so they say,
To make the bad luck go away.
Hurt the angel if you dare,
To bring upon the world despair.
In your sadness and through your rage,
It beckons you closer to the cage.
It drags you in,
  Holds you close,
To rid the pain that hurts the most.
Trick the god with a lie,
Because the angel has to die.
It sleeps so softly next to you,
Atop the feathers of redden hue
Watch it sleep, as you lie so still.
Have this moment and take your fill.

Catch an angel and let it go, feathers sprout like forgotten snow.
It flies back up towards its home, not looking back, your left alone.
You wake up late to the sound of wings, its voice a harp without the strings.
You stole an angel and let it go.
It stole you back and hugged you so.
An angel stole you to the sky,
So in the clouds you both may lie.

Steal a human deep in prayer;
Let it think it caught you there.
Bring it back into the sky,
And forever...
you both may lie.
